Propel's Start-Up Summer Showdown

Propel is excited to announce the Start-Up Summer Showdown beginning today (July 9, 2020).
Many Atlantic Canadian entrepreneurs and their ventures have been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic and we believe there are many more entrepreneurs with great new and innovative ideas that have been hesitant to try to move their venture forward. With the introduction of Propel's Start-Up Summer Showdown, we want to bring hope to these future entrepreneurs by offering them the chance to build the next big company based in Atlantic Canada.
One promising start-up will win a prize package consisting of cash and in-kind services valued at over $50,000 designed to help them launch their start-up and begin their entrepreneurial journey. The prize package includes:
- Programming and coaching services by Propel
- Advertising, graphic design, marketing services from Brainworks
- In-kind professional services from billing lawyers, clerks and students at LaBarge Weinstein LLP
- In-kind professional accounting services from EY
- $5,000 Cash award from Innovacorp
- $5,000 Cash award from NBIF
The Start-Up Summer Showdown powered by Propel, begins with the submission period that starts today and ends August 6. During the submission period, eligible start-ups will be encouraged to submit their pitch for their chance to win the grand prize package. The contest is open to any early stage (pre-revenue) start-ups based anywhere in Atlantic Canada. A panel of judges will then select which of those start-ups will move on to the next round of the competition.
The selected companies and their pitches will be posted on Propel's Facebook page for everyone to review and vote on their favorite. The companies scoring the lowest number of votes will be eliminated until one grand prize winner remains. The winning company will be announced in early September and will begin their entrepreneurial journey with Propel soon after. Submit your entry here.
