Tuesday, July 14, 2020 - 10:00am to 11:30am

Add to calendar

Nova Scotia has entered the next phase of COVID-19, with the easing of public health restrictions and the downward trend in new cases. Although this is positive, business owners and entrepreneurs are feeling cautious and must take a measured approach, shifting their attention now that many have reopened safely, while continuing to manage their evolving business needs and priorities, and supporting employees.

Join members of the Grant Thornton team, JP Furey, Nicole Deveau, and Jill Murray as they talk through topics for business owners and entrepreneurs to think and plan for in rebuilding the revival, including:

  • Navigating employee issues and addressing concerns
  • Creating an environment that supports resiliency
  • Technology today: disruptions and impacts
  • Implementing a virtual back office
  • Reopening: the bottom line on cash flow

JP Furey — Principal, Assurance Services

As a principal in Audit and Assurance services, JP is responsible for providing guidance and advice to help clients overcome their business challenges, seize new opportunities and elevate their overall business. Specific services include accounting, assurance, tax and business advisory. With a breadth of domestic and international experience behind him — particularly in the areas of financial management, operational leadership, and business development — JP understands what it takes to lead a business in today’s global economy. He applies that knowledge in every client interaction and leverages his prior experience as a CFO and CEO to help businesses raise capital, run cost-efficient operations, expand and prosper.

Nicole Deveau — Atlantic Practice Leader, Business Consulting and Technology

As the Atlantic Practice Leader for Business Consulting and Technology, Nicole’s experience understands the critical role of people and strategic planning in the success of an organization.  Business owners face numerous challenges, and it’s no small task when disruptive forces such as a global pandemic disrupt every aspect of our lives. She delivers services for businesses around human resource transformation including, change and project management, strategy development, workshop facilitation, and public consultation, recruitment, leadership development and coaching; and organizational effectiveness to organizations — large and small — across Atlantic Canada.

Jill Murray — Nova Scotia Leader, Advisory Services

Jill is a Partner and the Nova Scotia Leader for Advisory Services. She has spent her career advising clients on transactions in a variety of situations — from the initial business planning stage through acquisition, expansion, and sale. Working with clients every step of the way, she brings value through her experience and a team-based approach – working with the client, their legal counsel, and bankers. This often includes advising on buy/sell-side mandates, management buyouts, transaction financing, and quality of earnings and due diligence engagements.
