The Canadian government has announced measures to provide a lifeline to Canadian businesses and their workers to help manage the economic uncertainty caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
With the pace of information being released, and sometimes lack of details, it’s easy to lose track of how you’ll be able to use both the new or existing programs.
Join members of the Grant Thornton team, JP Furey, Keith MacIntyre, and Kevin Fraser to gain an understanding of the programs so you can make an informed decision on which will best benefit you and your employees. This is the second session in the series:
- Session one – A comprehensive review of the Canada Emergency Wage Subsidy with examples and Q&A
- Session two – An overview of popular programs including Canada Emergency Wage Subsidy, Temporary Wage Subsidy, HST Tax, and other deferrals, Canada Emergency Response Benefit, Supplemental Unemployment Benefit and Work sharing program.

JP Furey, Principal, Assurance Services
As a principal for the Grant Thornton Audit and Assurance practice in Halifax, JP is responsible for providing guidance and advice to help clients overcome their business challenges, seize new opportunities and elevate their overall businesses. Specific services include accounting, assurance, tax and business advisory.
With a breadth of domestic and international experience behind him—particularly in the areas of financial management, operational leadership, and business development—JP understands what it takes to lead a business in today’s global economy. He applies that knowledge in every client interaction and leverages his experience as a CFO and CEO to help businesses raise capital, run cost-efficient operations, expand and prosper.
Keith MacIntyre – Partner, Tax Services
As a partner in tax services, Keith has specialized in domestic corporate tax consulting and planning for over 20 years. By developing strong relationships in the industry, he’s been able to create business opportunities that provide significant value to his clients.
His primary focus is private companies in the construction, real estate, and high-tech industries, most often dealing with intricate matters of effective tax planning to maximize opportunities and minimize risk for corporations and individuals. I’m proud to be a former member of the Grant Thornton national tax leadership team, and a contributor to the growing government incentives practice.

Kevin is the National Transactions Leader and a partner in the Advisory group. He has spent the majority of his career working in the areas of Corporate Finance and Banking advising a wide range of industries, including transportation & logistics, fisheries, manufacturing & distribution as well as construction & real estate.
He has been supporting clients across Atlantic Canada as he believes it is critically important to advise, enable and support the continued prosperity of all businesses in the region and that the success of those organizations is the essence of economic growth in the Atlantic Provinces.
