Nova Scotia Gets Down to Business
Small Business Week 2017: October 15–21
The theme of BDC Small Business Week 2017 is Future-proof your business: Adapting to technology and demographic trends. Research shows companies that export make more sales, have higher profits, and stay in business longer. In other words, they future-proof.
To help celebrate this year’s Small Business Week theme, we take a closer look at Nova Scotia companies that are future-proofing — including this year’s Export Achievement Awards finalists. We’re also highlighting some of the tools and programs available to help companies get export ready — from the Export Self-Assessment Tool to the various resources available as part of Export Development Education. As well, we encourage you to visit our events page for a full listing of events happening in Nova Scotia.
Let’s get down to business!

• Competitive Advantage
• Market Research
• Distribution and Sales Channels
• Financial Resources
• Management Expertise
• Export Strategy
Kickstart your business growth through export

This fall, we are partnering with the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency to offer courses and workshops with timely, practical information for Nova Scotia companies looking to grow their markets outside the province.
CAMSC together with the Black Business Initiative, Nova Scotia Business Inc, the Centre for Women in Business and the ISANS invite emerging and established Minority, Aboriginal and women-owned businesses to explore business opportunities in Nova Scotia and other parts of the corporate supply chain in Canada.

When Michael Brown and Matt Cooper founded Swept in 2014, the focus was cleaning. However, it quickly became clear the value wasn’t cleaning — it was the software they’d developed to manage the cleaners. So one year later, they changed course, dropped cleaning and became a software company.
