The Entire World of Film

The public program of the Berlin International Film Festival shows about 400 films per year, mostly international or European premieres. The Berlinale has regularly organized a program of special presentations that open up new perspectives, provide insight into key themes, make new connections and explore realms where film intersects with other creative disciplines.

The Nova Scotia Film Industry at the 67th Berlin International Film Festival

Over a dozen Nova Scotians will be attending this year's Berlin International Film Festival representing their films, companies, and organizations. Werewolf  (Ashley McKenzie) and Weirdos (Bruce McDonald) will be having their International Premiere's highlighting Nova Scotia talent on the big screen.

Among those attending will be Screen Nova Scotia's Executive Director Erika Beatty, who'll be representing the organization throughout the week-long event. Screen Nova Scotia will be part of this year's Canada Pavilion at the European Film Market (EFM), one of the most important meeting points during the festival.

The Canada Pavilion gathers together a host of Canadian companies, from content producers to distributors and beyond. This meeting hub showcasing Canadian productions and talent fosters networking, international sales, and funding from foreign sources.

The EFM gathers together more than 400 exhibitors and 8000 industry professionals from 100 countries and offers 38 movie theatres to screen films for industry professionals attending the market. The EFM also encompasses the Berlinale Co-Production Market, a forum for some 500 producers, financiers, broadcasters, distributors, sales agents and funding organizations active in the field of coproduction. Berlinale Talents, another component of the Berlin International Film Festival, is a networking platform for 250 emerging creatives selected by the festival on the basis of a call for entries process.

You can find Screen Nova Scotia at Stand no. 130 in the European Film Market / Martin-Gropius-Bau (MGB).
