The Nova Scotia Digital Media Tax Credit (DMTC) allows an assumed 65% of labour costs to be used to represent overhead costs. Thus if the studio spends 65%, or less, of labour costs in non-labour related costs they will not have to provide proof of expenditures for anything other than labour. If a studio wishes to claim more than 65% of labour costs as overhead expenses then they will have to submit their detailed expenses.

The Nova Scotia Digital Media Tax Credit (DMTC) is a refundable tax credit claimed by eligible corporations for expenditures incurred and paid in Nova Scotia, which are directly attributable to the development of an eligible interactive digital media product. The DMTC is administered by the Nova Scotia Department of Finance and Treasury Board, Taxation and Federal Fiscal Relations Division.
