Global Courseware is one of eleven companies that will be recognized for their export success at the upcoming Nova Scotia Export Achievement Awards on Wednesday, June 14, at Pier 21 in Halifax.
CorporateTrainingMaterials.com, also known as Global Courseware, develops professional training materials for business training and development activities. These classroom-ready workshop materials save trainers hundreds of hours of preparation, and ensure a polished impression for new and seasoned trainers alike.
We spoke with Global Courseware’s Lori Gillin to learn more about the company, export process and a look ahead for the business.
Q: What do you consider will be key to your success going forward?
A: For us, success has always meant long hours and perseverance- especially in the beginning. The key to our success going forward will be the dedication and loyalty of our staff, staying on top of changing markets, and continue developing necessary components to keep trainers at the top of their game.
Q: What’s the best piece of advice you would give to new exporters, or companies considering exporting from Nova Scotia?
A: Our best piece of advice to give to companies considering exporting would be to be aware of international holidays, beliefs and common business practices of each country you market and sell to. It is important to respect their culture at every step of the way.
Q: How important is exporting to your business?
A: Exporting is very important to our business, in fact, 99% of our sales are dependent on transactions with clients outside of Nova Scotia.
Q: How did you know exporting was right for your business?
A: It was imperative for us to explore outside provinces and countries as potential sales markets due to having such a specialized product. Without exporting we would not survive as a company.
Q: What’s the best thing about being a Nova Scotia exporter?
A: The best thing about being a Nova Scotia exporter is being able to live and work here in Nova Scotia, close to our families and longtime friends.
Q: And finally, what’s next for your business?
A: We are continuously adding new products to our offerings in order to keep our clients at the top of their game. We’ve just launched a series of customizable audio book workshops that allow our clients to add their own voiceovers, and make the end product available to their clients as audiobooks on their websites or as podcasts.
