Join us in congratulating the start-ups selected to participate in our first cohort for GreenShoots 2025-2026, delivered in partnership with Greenspring Bioinnovation Hub. Four Nova Scotia start-ups are receiving funding and access to six months of business and technical expertise. 

BryoSphere – Liz Mahon, Hila Behar – Cape Breton – High-performance skincare ingredients derived from 500 million years of moss evolution.

Karyotica – Aaron Dublenko, Prasanthi Peddinti, Dr. Raphael Ofoe, William S. Baillie – Truro – Organic, plant-based biostimulants for root-up plant health.

Petite Riviere Farming Company – Gregg Curwin – Conquerall Mills – Freeze-dried micro-broccoli as a Food-as-Medicine solution for reducing cancer risk and chronic inflammation.

Sophie’s BioNutrients – Yao-Hsin Eugene Wang, Kirin Tuei – Cape Breton – Non-GMO precision-fermentation technology using microalgae.

Greenspring Bioinnovation Hub  
The Greenspring Bioinnovation Hub (formerly Nova Scotia Innovation Hub) was established in 2015 to foster opportunities in the bioeconomy. The organization works to transform Nova Scotia’s renewable resources into opportunities for the province’s economy and people. It is focused on improving access to feedstock supply, fostering collaborations to capitalize on the growing demand for low-carbon products, and providing financial support to help companies achieve critical commercialization milestones.
