Company Overview

Eauclaire Tidal Ltd. is a Nova Scotia-based renewable energy developer established to develop, finance, own, and operate tidal energy projects in Canada. Its flagship project, the 15 MW Eauclaire FORCE Tidal Array, is being advanced in Nova Scotia's Bay of Fundy, home to some of the strongest tidal currents in the world.

The company combines Canadian ownership, extensive offshore operations experience, and proven global tidal energy technology. Eauclaire is supported by the Lagasco Group, which brings more than 40 years of Canadian energy and marine operations expertise, while technology partner Orbital Marine Power contributes over 15 years of tidal turbine development experience and a commercially proven operating track record in Scotland.

Together, the project partners are working to establish a long-term Canadian tidal energy supply chain, creating opportunities in fabrication, marine services, operations, maintenance, and clean energy infrastructure development.

Project Overview

The Eauclaire FORCE Tidal Array is a utility-scale tidal energy project located at the Fundy Ocean Research Centre for Energy (FORCE) in Nova Scotia's Minas Passage. The development will deploy six 2.5 MW Orbital O2-X floating tidal turbines, delivering a total installed capacity of 15 MW and generating more than 66 GWh of predictable renewable electricity annually once fully operational.

The project benefits from existing FORCE infrastructure, including subsea export cables, grid connection facilities, and an onshore substation, significantly reducing development risk and capital requirements. The first turbine deployment is targeted for 2028, with phased expansion through 2030.

A key differentiator is the use of floating turbine technology with a tow-to-port maintenance model, reducing offshore operating costs and enabling greater participation from Canadian shipyards, marine contractors, and local suppliers.
