Together, we turn local potential into lasting prosperity.
As a provincial crown corporation reporting to the Department of Growth and Development, our team is as innovative and energetic as the clients we serve. We are a client and people-centric organization, and we care deeply about the work we do, guided by our values and our passion to help the companies we work with grow and succeed.
Job Opportunity: Business Growth Executive (permanent)
At Invest Nova Scotia, our Business Growth team helps start-ups and export-oriented businesses grow, innovate, and compete. We connect companies with research expertise to turn ideas into real-world impact - and we’re looking for someone who’s excited to be part of that. As a Business Growth Executive, you’ll lead programs that help Nova Scotia’s early exporters and technology start-ups move faster on their path to market.
What You’ll Do
You’ll take ownership of capacity-building programs and initiatives, managing everything from recruitment to evaluating business ideas and applications, and providing constructive feedback.
You’ll work closely with businesses and partners across the province to help grow the number and quality of applications. You’ll assess business readiness, and recommend appropriate services offered by Invest Nova Scotia or partner organizations
You’ll also develop and deliver initiatives to strengthen support to start-ups and export-oriented businesses such as special events and targeted programs. In collaboration with the Senior Manager, you’ll monitor program performance and budgets to ensure effective and aligned use of funding.
What We’re Looking For
You have a bachelor’s degree in business (or a related field) with a minimum of five (5) to seven (7) years of experience in roles involving project planning, client or partner engagement, or business advisory work. An equivalent combination of education and experience will also be considered.
You’re highly organized and able to manage multiple priorities, bringing strong project management and problem-solving skills to your work. You think strategically, communicate clearly, and build strong relationships with a wide range of partners.
Experience working with or alongside academic or research institutions would be a strong asset, as would familiarity with start-ups, commercialization, or venture capital. Most importantly, you enjoy connecting people, ideas, and opportunities and seeing those connections turn into meaningful results.
What We Offer
We offer a people-focused rewards package designed to support your wellbeing and work/life balance. Our defined benefit pension plan, robust Blue Cross health and dental coverage, and Employee and Family Assistance Program (EFAP) provide comprehensive support for you and your family. You’ll also have access to professional development opportunities, mentorship, and the chance to work with innovative, emerging companies in Nova Scotia. All to help you build a fulfilling career while maintaining a balanced life.
