Job Opportunity: Business Development Coordinator (temporary position, ending August 2026)
Invest Nova Scotia is seeking a Business Development Coordinator to provide timely, efficient, and client-focused administrative support to the Regional Business Development and Market Development team. Reporting to the Director, Regional and Market Development, the Coordinator is responsible for the administration of key programs, including the Innovation Rebate Program, and other initiatives as assigned to the team.
This role requires subject matter expertise in program delivery and involves regular coordination with internal business units to meet administrative and operational requirements. The ideal candidate will ensure smooth execution of program processes while supporting strong internal collaboration and delivering a high standard of service to clients.
In this role, the successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Providing comprehensive support to the Regional Business Development and Market Development teams in program facilitation, client consultations, partnership development, and project management.
- Supporting the delivery of incentive and funding programs through administrative tasks and direct client interaction for information collection and assessment package preparation.
- Serving as the subject matter expert for program-related inquiries, offering accurate and timely guidance.
- Managing the operating budget for programs, ensuring project approvals align with established financial limits.
- Identifying and implementing process improvements to:- Streamline administrative workflows for the both teams;
- Ensure efficient exchange of information with other business units;
- Enhance filing and monitoring systems; and
- Strengthen internal communication.
 
- Entering and maintaining data in our Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system (Salesforce) and generates reports as required.
- Answering questions from new, potential, and current clients, and following up in a timely manner.
- Data mining and research support to assist Business Development Advisors and Export Development Executives.
- Coordinating research initiatives with the Strategy & Research and Marketing teams when needed.
- Supporting the team with day-to-day admin tasks, from scheduling and processing invoices to managing records, coordinating projects, and preparing reports.
- Providing up-to-date information on government programs, external resources, and other relevant materials for client meetings.
- Jumping in to support business unit projects and initiatives, while pitching in on other tasks as needed to keep things running smoothly.
Education/ Professional Experience:
- As the successful candidate you have a bachelor’s degree in business, combined with a minimum of three years’ related experience.
- Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

- Strong time management, organizational, planning, and prioritization skills with the ability to align with business needs
- Proactive and solution-oriented, with the ability to work independently when required
- Skilled at multitasking, meeting deadlines, and adapting to shifting priorities in a dynamic environment
- Advanced knowledge in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, written, and proofreading communication skills
- Meticulous attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy
- Demonstrated professionalism and adaptability in fast-paced settings
- Experience with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems considered an asset

This role is based in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
Classification: This is a bargaining unit position with an Invest Nova Scotia 4 rate of pay: ($55,623 - $67,908) based on the March 31, 2024, collective agreement rates. Preference will be given to qualified Invest Nova Scotia NSGEU bargaining unit candidates.
