Sheldon Gillis serves as the Managing Director of Defence Investment Attraction for Nova Scotia. A 25‑year veteran of the Canadian Armed Forces, he previously commanded the Royal Canadian Navy warship HMCS St. John’s and later the Canadian Atlantic Fleet. He also held senior roles within National Defence Headquarters, where he led major naval procurement programs.
In his role with Invest Nova Scotia, Sheldon is responsible for advancing sector strategy and strengthening the province’s defence and aerospace ecosystem. He works closely with prime contractors, the Canadian Armed Forces, the Department of National Defence, and senior leaders across the Nova Scotia government to support the successful delivery of capital projects and to maximize economic investment in the province.
