The Research Assistant is a part of Invest Nova Scotia’s Strategy & Research team which provides research, analysis, and strategic planning for the organization. In addition, the Strategy & Research team supports Nova Scotia companies through its Trade Market Intelligence (TMI) service. TMI is a secondary, customized market intelligence research service available to Nova Scotia exporters that enables them to evaluate market opportunities. The Research Assistant works closely with the Strategy and Research team members to research, write and deliver these TMI reports, as well as help out with various research projects and provide support for meetings and conferences.
Job Opportunity: Research Assistant
The Research Assistant is responsible for:
•Conducting research and writing customized international market research reports for Invest Nova Scotia’s Trade Market Intelligence program.
•Conducting research for Sector Strategists to assist in the development of sector strategies for Invest Nova Scotia, both domestically and internationally.
•Conducting research on companies and executives to create company profiles and biographies.
•Providing research and support as required for meetings with clients and partners.
•Utilizing various databases in conducting research (training provided).
Qualifications:
•Business, Commerce, Marketing, Arts, Science, or Public Relations undergraduate co-op student.
•Strong investigative market research skills and an interest in conducting research.
•Ability to analyze and organize research findings and create reports.
•Strong proficiency in English.
•Highly developed verbal communication skills.
•Superior writing skills.
•Excellent attention to detail.
•Effective time management skills.
•High degree of initiative and autonomy.
•Confident and flexible personality.
•An interest in international business.
Position Reports to: Manager, Trade Market Intelligence
Dates: September 2025-December 2025
Salary: Commensurate with experience ($19.70- $21.70 per hour)
