Brimming With Opportunity

Nova Scotia’s bioprocessing companies are pushing boundaries, developing groundbreaking conversion techniques and processes that redefine what’s possible. From specialized training programs to private-sector R&D support, the province’s post-secondary and research institutions are primed to meet unique demands.

At the heart of Nova Scotia’s biomanufacturing industry is the Verschuren Centre (VC)—an independent, non-profit clean technology powerhouse. The VC is a turning point in the industry, offering industrial-scale biomanufacturing capabilities, including one of only three 1,000L bioreactors in Canada, complete with advanced downstream processing capabilities. The VC is home to a groundbreaking 10,000L facility, the first of its kind in Canada and one of only a select few worldwide. Nationally recognized for its expertise in synthetic biology and biotech, the VC is a hub for innovation, collaboration, and commercialization. Its extensive network of national and international partnerships amplifies its impact, making it a go-to destination for businesses seeking to drive the future of clean technology.
