Do you want to hire a student to join your business?  Did you know there is support available to assist you with funding a portion of the student's wages and matching/recruitment? Join us to learn more about co-op placements, summer student employment supports, and graduate hiring programs.

This session is delivered in partnership with Information and Communications Technology Council (ICTC),  NS Department of Labour and Advanced Education (LAE), and Dalhousie University.

This session will cover the ICTC Work Integrated Learning program, LAE wage subsidy programming including for Co-operative Education Incentive, Graduate to Opportunity, and Innovate to Opportunity.  Dalhousie University SITE staff will talk about the student experience, the employer's responsibility, and what to expect from the process when you engage a co-op student.  


Speakers

Margaret Schwartz, Youth Outreach Coordinator, Department of Labour and Advanced Education.

Margaret helps employers access funding through the Province’s Youth Employment Programs, which are designed to retain post-secondary young people in Nova Scotia with meaningful career opportunities

Tim Perron, Atlantic Regional Coordinator, Information and Communications Technology Council (ICTC).

Tim is the ICTC ambassador for the four Atlantic Provinces and works closely with Businesses, Post-Secondary Institutions, Government, Industry groups and associations to promote ICTC’s capacity-building programs to help grow the Digital Economy in Atlantic Canada

Theresa Myra, Employer Development Coordinator, Science, Computer Science, and Engineering Co-op program, Dalhousie University.

Theresa has worked at the university since 2005 engaging with employers in the province, region, across Canada and international assisting them with their student and recent grad hiring needs.
